Hello Wattage,
I bought my Corsair a few years ago, and I was so excited about having it when I bought it. I always wanted to get into RC planes, and I love the little electric park flyers, or the idea of one anyways. I have never gotten my Corsair to work. The first engine burned out. I looked in a drawer the other day and saw the new one that Wattage sent as a replacement for me. I finally installed it the other night after having it for over a year and a half. My son is 3 1/2 now, and he loves airplanes. I want to get this plane going so he can go to the park with me and fly it. Now there is another set of problems. The servo's are hanging and the rudder does not want move at all. I tried to get it to work the other night and the plane engine powered up fine, but the plane would power on and off, on and off. Finally, it just quit working at all. I tried to charge the battery, but the battery will not even get warm? So, I am still without a plane. I see there is a new wing type and 8 cell battery out there? I would love to get this plane going. I have thought about getting the wattage decathlon, but I would like to see this one work first.
Thanks,
Greg (wanting to fly pretty bad in KY.) |

By the way....Wattage customer service has been great to me in the past. The plane is no reflection on the company, they have always stood by it. I hope to get this one flying.

| what are you using to charge the battery? If it is the stock wall charger, does the light come on? How long have you tried to let it charge? Check the crystal in the rx to be sure it is seated firmly. If I remember, the throttle has a safety feature where you must cycle the throttle stick full up then full down after the batt. is plugged in. |

I am not sure what happened to this thing. I pulled all of the servo plugs out of the receiver. I might have the order wrong or something. There is a pie symbol on one of them, and a Alpha symobol? I really do not understand all this stuff. I want to understand so I can get a good start in this hobby. My radio seems to be working fine. The other day the rudder was hanging and struggling to move, but the elevator was going strong and the engine was working and pulling strong, but when I started pulling the servo plugs loose to try and fix the rudder, that is when it just went bye bye....the whole plane. Did I hurt something?

| Greg, it is a 4 channel receiver but the corsair only uses three of those channels. The reciever must have power from the flight battery in order to work. The power is fed to the receiver through the motor controller (esc). The motor controller must be connected to the receiver to feed it power and receive signal from the receiver to throttle the motor up/down. if you plug the esc into any of the the receiver sockets it will feed the reciever power. If you plug it into any other receiver socket other than the throttle socket it will work but the motor will be controlled by the wrong transmitter stick movement. Same goes for rudder and elevator servos. They will work in any of the receiver sockets but if plugged into the wrong socket, the wrong stick movement will control that servo. You also need to be sure you plug into the receiver with correct polarity or you could damage the receiver/esc. When plugging into the receiver, Black (ground) wire should be at the top - furthest from the receiver board, red (4.8v) should be in the middle and white (signal) should be closest to the receiver board. somtimes brown is used instead of black and yellow is used instead of white. It depends on the brand. Looking at the socket (pin) end of the receiver and the reciver board facing down, the set of pins on the left is not used, next set is esc, next set is elevator and right set is rudder. Take note: the socket used for the rudder on this 3 channel plane is actually used for ailerons on a four channel plane, the rudder would then be plugged into the far left channel. Currently the right stick on the transmitter moved left/right will control the rudder and the left stick moved left/right will control nothing. if you reuse the radio in a plane with ailerons, you will want the right stick to control the ailerons and left stick to control the rudder. Some guys like to control the rudder with the left stick on this plane so they are used to the rudder control when the move on to an aileron equipped plane. It's all a matter of preference. I learned with the corsair with the rudder on the right stick and had no problem making the switch to a 4 channel plane. Hope this helps. |

I will check all that out. Thanks Hueyman. I did buy a replacement battery, but I am not feeling it get warm with the charger, so now I am curious about the charger. My AC adapter has no light on it, so who knows. I am going to mess with it some more. Thanks so much again.

Hueyman,
I went back and checked all the polarity with the plugs, and they are fine. I am just not experienced enough to know what is going on with this thing. I guess I am going to hang it up. I have spent enough on this thing and it has never worked, and I have always done everything by the book. I guess I will buy another plane, but I will be doing my research before buying a second time. I was so fired up with this plane when I got it, but that has faded now. I hope other people had some luck with them. It sure was a good looking plane, but I guess this one just had too many problems. I appreciate all the replies you gave me Hueyman. Keep on flyin and have fun.

| Do you have a local hobby shop near you or a flying field that you can take it to and have a more experienced flyer check it out? In most cases, fellow modelers are more than happy to lend a hand. It sounds like it could be something simple (like a connector plugged in wrong or something) that would be easier to diagnose in person. |
