Hello!

I've just bought an XTM TMAXX conversion kit to put a Picco P7R Evo2 in. However, the XTM included engine mount does not fit this engine. When I try to slip it in as the manual says it just tears againt the engine crank and get stuck. Does anyone now an engine mount that will fit the Picco and the conversion kit ?

I don't understand what is getting stuck on the crank? I know I had to cut my XTM 24.7's shaft to make it work. You may need to do the same. The mounts I have do not have very many limitations and very universal to all big block engines.

Hello!

English is not my native language so it's somewhat hard to explain but I'll try again.

On the top of the engine mounts (where the engine is fastened to), there are two sides, a thick side faceing outward from the engine and a thin side facing inwards. The thin side is to thick for the P7R. When I try to slide the mount onto the screws it touches the crankcase so much the engine mount angles outward from the engine. Also, just before the backplate is a small bump outwards on the crankcase so even if I could force it on by grinding of some metal from the mounts it won't slide on all the way.

I could probably make it work be grinding of more metal but I feel the engine mounts gets too weak if I do.I would rather buy a new engine mount that fits and one that does not slide on to the screws. I prefer 4 holes for the engine->engine mount and 4 holes for the mount->chassis, not this "slide on" approach which looks somewhat weak from the beginning...[/img]

Hi,

The slide-on engine mounts are actually quite popular and prevalent among r/c's. Unfortunately though, it sounds like they are not compatible with the particular engine you have. The distance from the center of the engine mounting bolts and the side of the crankcase must be a bit narrower than the majority of engines. That's why the slide-on mounts aren't able to fit into place properly.

I'm not aware of any specific mount for that engine. My only suggestion is to grind the inside surfaces of the mounts and/or elongating the engine mounting holes might be an option, but obviously up to you.

Hello!

I'll try to grind some off and see how it goes. Otherwise I'll try to make a new mount one myself.

Thanks for your replies

My XTM TMaxx mount wouldn't even fit around the motor correctly. The holes would spread out too far and you couldn't mount it to the chassis.

Well, I sold the Picco and got a bigger GO .28 engine that also have problems with the mount although not as bad as the Picco or as you describe. Did you buy another mount to make it work or what ?

No I didn't buy another one because they're discontinued and I fear they will work...or should I say Not work.... like the ones I have now. So I'll eventually have to buy some New Era ones or something.
