I'd like to convert my XF2 into a serious crawler. However, since I haven't really messed with this thing in a few years, I have no idea where to begin. Hopefully someone here might have some answers.

First, I'd like to replace the awful stock wheel and tire combination. I'm leaning towards the XTM 14mm hub replacement kit, but don't know who offers scale 14mm beadlock wheels. Does anyone know?

Second, I'd like to lock my front and rear diffs. Are there CNC spools available now? If not, how are you guys locking your diffs? Would heavy synthetic marine grease work?

Finally, how about some aluminum axles? Mine are already starting to bow upwards a little due to the added weight of the full roll cage. Plus, there's too much slop in the plastic hardware attachments. I've been to a few sites like rc4wd.com, but unfortunately no replacement metal axles to be found. Anyone here have any suggestions?

Apart from that, my rig has been modded quite heavily; most of the plastic components save for the axles have been replaced with aluminum pieces. I'd like to try and make this truck a competent crawler, but like I said... don't really know where to begin. If anyone here has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks,
James

well i am no expert but replacing the cantilever rod that comes up to the rocker with another shock would help. as for locker i believe JB weld is still the way to go. and to answer your question about 14mm beadlocks, maximizer products still make maxx standard wheels that i myself plan to buy soon.

Thanks for the link. What offset would I need to keep the truck's geometry stock? Would I need 0 offset or 3/4"?

Many thanks,
James

I would get the more offset ones to make it wider it wil help.

Also you do not need to jb weld the x-diffs. If yours has the satelite gears and not bevel gears all you gotta do is flip one of them around and reassemble the diff, I did mine this way and its been fine.

I just had my diffs apart tonight. There are 4 planetary gears oriented vertically within the housing riding on steel shafts or pins. All I have to do is turn one gear around and that's it?

Yeap, that's the way they have been on my crawler chassis for a long time now, no issues
