I have the xt2 racer edition with the .21 XTM motor. I have broke in the motor and have gone thru a gallon of gas. I recently converted the pull start to xtm's electric start thingamigig. I don't know if that is cause this problem or just a coincidence, but here is the problem.
when i take off, the motor hesitates for about a second, then goes all out like it should. I have tried to lean out the low end but to no avail. what steps should i start with to trouble shoot this? in some other posts, i noticed that if my gas hose was too close to the pipe, the gas might evaporate. my hose was touching the pipe ,but i have moved it and it still does the hesitation thing. even when it is cold.

Where should I start to resolve this problem?

thanks for help in advance, moderators. I really do love this buggy, thats why i want to fix it!!

TT

If there was no problem before you installed the sure start I would replace the rear O-ring and seal the back, then try again. Make sure to blue lock tite all the metal to metal screws Smile

when i put on the e starter, there was nothing bu tthe pull start that came off. are you talking about taking off the hex nut starter and replacing some internal stuff?

Yes the back plate has an O-ring on it and both the back plate and the starter plate work there way loose. I like the sure start but it can be a pain to keep sealed right. Get some RCE 10115 carb sealer or something like it and seal the whole engine. I seal and check seals right out of the box NEW. Its not always necessary but what the heck I get a lot of hours out of my engines without touching anything accept the clutch and air cleaner Wink Go here it will give you the line up of the parts and how there assembeled

It could be that the low speed needle needs a slight adjustment and/or the glow plug needs to be replaced. Replace the plug with a new one, and lean the low speed ever so slightly. If the engine had an air leak, it probably would negatively the idle and the engine would probably run hotter than normal.
